​Westrek History
As regards the history of the Westrek, there is much to say as it has been an annual event beginning in 1970. Upon reflection, there has been a remarkable variety of hosts, geographic locations, and venues. Each host, whether it be an individual, couple, group, or committee provides their own flare, flavor, and fervor. Westreks have been held as far northwest as Everett and Silverdale, WA; as far northeast as West Yellowstone, MT; as far southwest as Fallbrook, CA, as far southeast as Tombstone, AZ, and a number of places in between!  Because of the various interests of our hosts, and the variety of locations, we have been able to visit wonderfully unique sites often little known to the public or the casual traveler. A small sampling includes tours of:

  • Manufacturing plants
  • Power generating sites
  • Fabulous music machines
  • Ornate, historical carriages
  • A gold mine
  • A water driven foundry
  • Ghost town movie sets
  • The Reagan Ranch
  • Beautiful Lake Tahoe
  • Fish hatcheries
  • A raptor center
  • A sugar factory
  • Wineries
  • A bison ranch
  • A sake brewery
  • Architectural masterpieces
  • Marvels such as the Spruce Goose
  • The last Blockbuster Video store in the world
  • A miniature railroad providing rides
  • An alpaca farm
  • Private vintage car collections
We have also cruised and canoed on rivers and visited:
  • National Parks, State Parks, and Balboa Park
  • Museums of everything such as Native Americans, mining, kites, trains, trucks, tractors, as well as many car museums (public and private)
​Each Westrek is distinguishable and memorable due to its uniqueness.
